What is vinyl lettering? TOP

Vinyl lettering is vinyl that is cut into letters and can be applied directly to your wall.  It can adhere to almost any smooth surface.  Vinyl lettering is very easy to apply and can be removed when you would like it to be.  All you need to do is take a blow dryer and heat it up for a minute and it should peel right off.  There are different kinds of vinyl- for the inside of your home we use a  non-permanent adhesive vinyl that can be removed.  If you would like vinyl for a car or a yard sign- we would use a more tacky vinyl.

Installation Instructions

Tools you will need:

1. Masking Tape

2. Straightedge or Level

3. Pencil and Eraser

4. Scissors

5. Applicator Tool

( a spatula or Pampered Chef scraper work great- or something like a credit card)

1. Your lettering is made up of 3 layers.  The first is called the transfer tape, the second is the letters and the last is the backing paper.

2.  For ease of application, this first step is important.  With the lettering on a smooth surface (facing up and so that you can read it normally) take the applicator and rub it with moderate force across the lettering several times.  Rub it diagonally in both directions.  You can not rub too much!

3. Choose a clean place to put the words and tape it (with masking tape) to that area.  This will create a “hinge” for your words.  Make sure you tape it so that you can read it correctly through the transfer tape.  Tape it on the wall straight (remember that the transfer tape might not be cut straight- make sure the WORDS are straight)

When you have it all taped to the wall – go ahead and take your applicator and rub them a little more.

4. Flip up the letters up using the tape as a hinge and you will see the back of the 3rd layer.  Slowly peel off that layer while holding the top layer up and the words should stay stuck to the transfer paper (1st layer) When the 3rd layer is completely off, slowly flip down the transfer tape and the words should then be smoothly touching the wall.  Take your applicator and rub, rub, rub again.  The slowly peel off the transfer tape and the words should remain on the wall.

THE WORDS ARE NOT REPOSITIONABLE – BE CAREFUL DOING THESE STEPS, IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE FOLD IN THE LETTERS CAREFULLY PICK IT OUT AND THEN SMOOTH IT DOWN AGAIN.

** to remove your letters simply heat them up a little with a blow dryer and peel off slowly.
